Since the start of the Cannabis Act passed in Ontario on October 17, 2018. The research of advantages and applications to the medical field of cannabinoid is abundant. People may popular understanding of cannabinoid relating to Tetrahydrocannabinol or TCH to have the same psychoactive effect. However, cannabinoids have different forms and even have more benefit than just a psychoactive effect.

Before deciding to rule out CBD to still give the effect of being “high” let’s understand how it works and what benefit it may give.

What are Endocannabinoids and Phytocannabinoids?

It is organically produced by the human body generated by the endocannabinoid system. The recent studies suggest that it helps regulate sleep pattern, pain and strengthen the response of the immune system. Other potential benefits that scientist is still investigating is the role of physiological cannabinoids in tissue recovery and disease. The endocannabinoids can activate the same receptors as the psychoactive THC.

Phytocannabinoids, on the other hand, comes from cannabis plants. Cannabidiol, TCH, and cannabidivarin are a few examples of the fifteen subclasses of such compounds found in the cannabis plant.

Now, CBD known as cannabidiol is a subclass of Phytocannabinoids and one among the twenty cannabis compounds. Unlike THC that gives a great amount of benefit in a human body, it causes a euphoric high, while the CBD does not. Cannabinoids do not give an addictive effect if used for a long-term or discontinued. Which is why CBD being popular to help relieve pain, relief and give relaxation.

Using CBD Oil

Besides the application of CBD oil topically, it has similarities in how a virgin coconut oil or olive oil consumed in different ways. CBD oil is ingestible by placing it under the tongue (by lingual) or consume the oil. Besides the concentrated product of CBD oil, manufacturers add it as an ingredient in merchandise like moisturizers and topical creams as a skin care product.

CBD oil can also be added to cookies, brownies, and even tacos if you prefer. Basically, CBD oil is now on the market where consumers can enjoy.

CBD Oil Used to Relieve Pain

In scientific explanation, the human body has specific sites that can bind to cannabinoids called the cannabinoid receptor sites. These receptors allow the body to process in the human body by binding themselves. There are two kinds of receptors for cannabinoids, the CB1 receptors present in the brain and the CB2 receptors present in the immune system.

The cannabinoids can be agonists, inverse agonists or inhibitors. When it is agonists, it will stimulate the bodily function once they adhere to its respective receptors. Inverse agonists associate themselves with the same receptors as an agonist that cause a chemical reaction opposite to the ones caused by the agonist. While the inhibitors stop a chemical reaction or response once bound to its receptors.

With the said above explanation, the cannabidiol is unique since it does not work with CB1 or CB2 receptors. To be exact it influences the working of the Endocannabinoid system that regulates the pain receptors, immune system functions and staying awake and falling asleep. CBD can also amplify the effect of all the cannabinoids that attach to the CB1 receptors.

This means that the CBD oil protects the body against any possible euphoric stimulant that other cannabis does. Besides the relief of pain to a person, the CBD has anti-tumorous properties that proliferate the cell production of cancer.

Although these findings are still inadequate and need further research, CBD can have more advantages to the health of a person and fewer side effects. To know more about the use of CBD, consult a professional for the right dosage desirable to you.
